Word 2010 allows you to apply color to the pages of a document. After you color your Word document’s pages, you need to tell the printer you want to print that background color.

Normally, the background of a Word document in Office 2011 for Mac is white, but you can change the background color — and even apply document theme colors to it. You have to use Print Layout view in Word 2011 for Mac for this to work, so if you’re not already in Print Layout view, click the Print Layout view button at the lower-left corner of the document window to switch to it.
While you move the mouse over the various colors on the Page Color menu, your document’s page color is updated to reflect that new color (but only in Page Layout view). The text color may change, as well (for example, from black to white), to remain visible. To remove page coloring, choose the No Color command.
The color you choose is produced by your printer, but you must direct the printer to print the page color.
3Click the File tab and choose Options.
The Word Options window opens.
4Select Display from the left side of the Word Options window.
In the Printing Options area, put a check mark by the item labeled Print Background Colors and Images, and then click OK.

Microsoft Office for Mac allows you to personalize the Office Theme between two different options. Unlike its Windows counterpart, the options are somewhat limited. Keep in mind, changes to the Theme will apply to all Office 2016 and higher for Mac apps including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook.

Step 1. Open an Office 2016 for Mac app. In my example, I’ll use Word. Click Word > Preferences

As I mentioned earlier, the options at this point are very minimal when it comes to changing the Color Theme. It’s basically White or Blue. Being that the new Mac Office Suite was just released. Hopefully, Microsoft will add a few more themes in the near future.
